Why Pro Shield

Lakewood roofers who answer the phone after the job is done.

Most of the friction Colorado homeowners have with roofing contractors comes from a single failure: the contractor is not around when something needs fixing. Pro Shield is built the opposite way.

Local, not transient

Headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado. Crews work the seven-county Denver metro every week and live in the communities where they install. Warranty calls land on a local phone number, not a 1-800 referral.

Insurance literate without the games

We meet your adjuster on the roof, document hail and wind damage to carrier photo standards, and itemize code-upgrade supplements your policy already owes. We do not invent damage. We do not promise to waive your deductible (Colorado statute prohibits it).

Written workmanship warranty

Every project includes a written workmanship warranty from Pro Shield in addition to the manufacturer system warranty. The name on the warranty is the same name on this site, and the company answering the call in year three is the same company that installed the roof.

Smallest scope that solves the problem

If a repair fixes the issue on a roof with years of life left, that is the scope we write. Full replacements are recommended when the underlying condition (age, ventilation, widespread granule loss, decking failures) actually warrants it. We do not pressure-sell.

What "owner-operated" actually means here

Pro Shield is owned and operated locally. The same people who write your scope are the people who answer the phone when something needs to be revisited. There is no regional sales office, no franchise owner one state over, and no rotating cast of subcontracted door knockers handing you off after the contract is signed.

How we run an insurance claim

A hail or wind event triggers a claim with your insurer. They assign a field adjuster who inspects the roof. We meet the adjuster on the roof, mark and photograph hits to carrier documentation standards (CAT photo grids, dated test squares, slope-by-slope counts), and scope the project in Xactimate against the carrier's price list. Code-upgrade supplements (ice and water shield to IRC R905.1.2, drip edge to IRC R905.2.8.5, ventilation per IRC R806) are itemized and submitted with the citation.

Under Colorado Revised Statute 10-2-417, only the policyholder, a licensed Colorado public adjuster, or an attorney can negotiate or adjust the claim. Pro Shield operates inside that framework as your contractor, never above it. Under C.R.S. 18-5-211 no contractor may rebate, waive, or absorb your homeowners deductible. Anyone promising to "eat your deductible" is offering you fraud, not a deal.

The standards we work to, in writing

Pro Shield writes scopes that comply with the International Residential Code provisions Colorado jurisdictions enforce: drip edge at eaves and rakes (IRC R905.2.8.5), ice and water shield at eaves extending at least 24 inches past the warm wall line (IRC R905.1.2), and balanced attic ventilation per IRC R806. We follow the asphalt manufacturer installation specifications (GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, Malarkey) so that system warranties stay enforceable. On wildfire-zone projects we align with the Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code (effective 2025) and HB23-1273 grant-eligible assemblies.

Where Pro Shield draws the line

We will not invent damage to push a claim. We will not file on your behalf for a roof that is healthy. We will not promise to waive your deductible. We will not pressure-sell a replacement when the smallest scope that solves the problem is a repair. These are not marketing positions; they are how the company is run, and they are why customers can call Pro Shield three years later and still reach the same people.
